“jaarimasen” is also used in more formal situations.

Tips
janaidesu, jaarimasen
“Janaidesu” can also be expressed as “dewanaidesu,” with “ja” being transformed from “dewa.” Similarly, “jaarimasen” carries the same meaning as “janaidesu,” and “dewaarimasen” is also used.
In modern Japanese, conjugation does not have a long history, so sometimes multiple conjugations exist simultaneously. Some are more logical than others, but some outdated forms still persist.
